Try setting "unix extensions = no" in your smb.conf on the server (and
possibly client too) and bouncing smbd.
Alternatively, use winbind and kerberos to join both system to the AD
domain so that they have the same user and group info for the share.
Note that gnome (among lots of other things) hates a primary group
with spaces in it, so you may need to change your posix primary group
on the AD side accounts for users who intend to use gnome on linux
under a winbind sourced account.
