Well, I submitted all forms and documents that they asked for. And on
Thursday I was able to finally get my Android tablet!!! They only asked
for a $100 ransom um... err.. fee! I looked it over in their presence
(SOP) and found that there was no power supply. The two (female)
"officers" that did the seizure were called up. One told me, with a
stern face:
"Sir, I would not jeopardize my job by stealing your power supply!"
I smiled and said that I was not accusing them of stealing it, but maybe
I was accusing them of losing it. They did not find it amusing. In fact,
they would not even consider the fact that it was even possible that
they were responsible for losing it. I think that it was in the shipping
package, loose. They just missed it, and tossed the original package,
power supply and all.
I found a suitable replacement, for a Polaroid portable DVD player,
9VDC, 2A, and ordered it. A coworker then said he had a broken DVD
player, and I could have the power supply. It is 9VDC, 2.2A, slightly
higher amperage. I am using it, and it works. Are there any possible
problems with using this power supply?
I doubt that I can make the next MLUG meeting, to show it off. I am
Learning the ins and outs of the Android OS, but one thing is certain, I
don't like it. I am too used to using Linux, so I will need to find a
way to put Linux on it.
I understand that there a few MLUG members that used embedded Linux.
Maybe they can offer some assistance to me in this endeavor.
Paul
